18/12/2023The eighth edition of this prestigious cycling race is scheduled to take place from September 26th to October 1st, 2023. In this edition, 20 cycling teams from Europe, Asia, America, and Australia will compete on a track spanning nearly 1,000 kilometers, traditionally connecting the coast with the mainland. This year’s race will pass through eight counties and the city of Zagreb, featuring both familiar and entirely new destinations. The uniqueness of this edition lies in the fact that the race will finally include islands. Krk Island will be the first island starting point of the CRO Race, and on September 29th, the town of Krk and the Krk waterfront will host some of the best cyclists and cycling teams of today.
CRO Race not only promotes cycling as a sport but also highlights the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Croatia, positioning it as one of the most attractive cycling tourism destinations in the world. The participation of top teams and cyclists promises a dynamic race and an exciting battle for victory, sure to capture the attention of all cycling enthusiasts.
Vladimir Miholjević, director of Top Sports Events, the race organizer, stated: “CRO Race represents a significant project in both the sports and tourism sectors, promoting Croatia to more than 190 countries worldwide and contributing to its profile as a desirable destination for sustainable year-round tourism.”
The race will encompass six stages with starts and finishes in well-known locations, picturesque towns, municipalities, and counties. This year’s stage schedule includes:
- First stage: Primošten – Sinj (185 km)
- Second stage: Biograd na Moru – Novalja (119.5 km)
- Third stage: Otočac – Opatija (133.5 km)
- Fourth stage: Krk – Labin (191 km)
- Fifth stage: Crikvenica – Ozalj (188 km)
- Sixth stage: Samobor – Zagreb (159 km)
Between the stages, spectators can expect dynamic sections of the course and thrilling sprints for bonus seconds. The race will be broadcast live on Croatian Radiotelevision and Eurosport, with television coverage reaching six continents and 190 countries.
CRO Race has established partnerships with the Tourist Board of the City of Krk, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Dobrinj, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Omišalj, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Punat, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Baška, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Vrbnik, and the Tourist Board of the Island of Krk, with the support of the Tourist Board of Kvarner.
